Review: These two most recent short novels by Val Andrews maintain the author’s reputation for intelligent entertainment. The former sees Holmes investigating sabotage at a great Edwardian department store, easily recognisable as the much-missed Gamage’s; while the latter involves Sir Henry Irving, a hitherto-unknown play based on Stoker’s Dracula, a visit to Brighton, and an apparently supernatural killer. Clever, nicely told, and with lots of good period detail. Recommended.
