Review: Itís always a pleasure to listen to the mellow voice of David Timson, who has already recorded twelve of the short stories. Now he reads A Study in Scarlet, unabridged. His pacing is impeccable, his characterisation superb, and, as ever, the recording is enhanced by well-chosen music - this time by Dvorak and Hubert Parry - chosen from the Naxos catalogue by the producer Nicolas Soames. This excellent unabridged reading is available on four cassettes or four CDs with informative sleeve notes by David Timson.
