Review: In Eddie Maguire’s fourth Sherlock Holmes story, A Voice from the Ether Holmes and Watson overhear an attempted murder - but before they can help the victim they must discover when and where the assault took place! Their journey takes them from Saxe-Coburg Square to the ancient port of Maldon in Essex.

It’s an ingenious and exciting tale that respects both Sherlock Holmes and history. The author has settled comfortably into the Watsonian style (though I think the phrase ‘head-butt’ is of the 1990s), and the result is a very enjoyable read.

A Voice from the Ether is published with help from Maldon Town Council and Maldon District Council. The attractive 40-page booklet, with a nice cover illustration of the detective and the doctor in Maldon High Street, costs £3.50 post-paid from the publisher.
